Description
The String Quartets of Ludwig van Beethoven are considered to be the greatest and most powerful testaments to the chamber music genre. The Alban Berg Quartett had already made studio recordings of all the Beethoven quartets for EMI Classics when the players thought they should risk remaking the cycle live for both audio and video. Recorded at the Konzerthaus in Vienna, these 1989 readings represent the quartet at their best; they are more intense and spontaneous than the studio efforts, and convey the atmosphere of their concerts. Volume 3 is presented on two DVDs: DVD 1 ? Op. 18, No. 5; Op. 133; Op. 59, No. 2. DVD 2 ? Op. 18, No. 6; Op. 135; Op. 59, No. 3. Audio: Dolby Digital 5.0, DTS 5.0, LPCM 2.0.

Technique AND feeling! December 22, 2008
Their technique is close to flawless - and in these live concerts, there is ample display of emotion and humor - while still allowing the genius of Beethoven, above all - to be the main attraction! Good taste in video, and great sound. My only regret is that I didn't buy the full set!

I had purchas before the vol. 1, and I anjoyed very much, so this was the razon to buy the other two volumes.
