Description
Filmed over two performances in Rotterdam, Holland in October of 2007, Rush's new DVD Snakes & Arrows Live captures the legendary band in peak form, performing classic Rush material and nine new songs from their critically acclaimed 2007 CD Snakes & Arrows. Bonus footage of four songs added for their 2008 American tour, including "Ghost of a Chance," filmed here for the first time.

Since the release of their eponymous first LP in 1974, Rush has continually expanded the definition of "progressive power trio." Guitarist Alex Lifeson, bassist/keyboardist/vocalist Geddy Lee and drummer/lyricist Neil Peart combine dazzling virtuosity, laser-beam intensity and unbridled creativity to create a cohesive whole that's infinitely greater than its parts. The Toronto-based group has become one of Canada's leading exports, with a catalog of genre-defining releases including 2112, Permanent Waves, Moving Pictures, Vapour Trails and Snakes & Arrows and a live show which combines musicianship, showmanship and multi-media effects that engage all the senses. Following their previous best-selling DVDs Rush in Rio and R30, Snakes & Arrows Live presents a band not resting on its considerable laurels but still earning its reputation as one of the world's best live bands - one night at a time.

5 out of 5 stars RUSH + Blu-Ray = Perfect   January 6, 2009
I received this Disc, plus a Sony Blu-Ray player for Christmas from my Wife (both were at the top of my list). This is just an awesome concert video. I've been a fan of Rush for a very long time (circa 1980), but most of my friends at the time were more into the Metal Bands, so never found someone to go to concert. When I got to college I made friends with plenty of Rush fans, but as is the case in college money was lacking when it came time to buy tickets. Well, thank god for Rock Band. Rock Band introduced my son to his first Rush song, and I introduced him to the rest. So, last summer I took my son (age 10) to his first concert, which happened to be my first Rush concert. The best concert that I have ever been to (mad at myself for waiting so long to get to a Rush concert). My son still talks about it. The setlist they played was almost identical to the one played on the Blu-Ray. Watching the Blu-Ray is like reliving the concert over and over again for me.

5 out of 5 stars Rush at it's best   January 6, 2009
If you are a long time Rush fan, or just getting to know the band right now, and you can afford only one concert DVD, this is the one I would recomend. This is by far the best sound and image quality in any Rush concert (and the other ones are not really too bad).

The song set list is really interesting, including a good portion of new songs from their latest studio album, Snakes and Arrows, the classic hits like Tom Sawyer, The Spirit of Radio, 2112 and Limelight, and the long lost gems like Circumstances, A Passage to Bangkok, and Ghost of a Chance. The performance is unbelieveably solid, and it's full of the well-known Rush humor. Do not miss this one.

5 out of 5 stars mmmmm Rush live...   January 6, 2009
Great quality for audio and video. Would of liked more segments with the band. Great to see this concert on video. Lots of rare tracks and great old ones. Great to see the trio doing what they do!

5 out of 5 stars Amazing!   January 3, 2009
RUSH: Snakes and Arrows Live [Blu-ray]

It's incredible to see the picture quality on this Blu-ray. You can see the sweating on the guys and their wrinkles. The unreal quality of the colors is so impressive that with your own eyes you'll never be able to see that. The camera work is perfect with any kind of angle but for the most part, it offer some stunning close shots. The light show is captured also with some distant shots of the stage.
