Editorial Reviews:

Album Description
Onward with the 90's revival! We've got The Lemonheads making a new record, bands gazing at their shoes and the newest lump to add on to the blazing "We 3 the '90's" fire?: Shiny Toy Guns. But don't think these kids are all up in their flannel. STG are taking their cues from the best in electroclash and eurodisco to fashion a unique, stylish blast of pop, indie, electro and a touch of svelt-techno. Comprised of Carah Faye (vocals), Chad Petree (vocal, guitar), Jeremy Dawson (bass guitar) and Mikey Martin (drums); the band have already made a massive impact on MySpace and continue to be taking the world by storm with their explosive live show and bombastic dance-party vibe.

There's something so apt about the band name chosen by Chad Petree and his Shiny Toy Guns playmates. Synth-driven, bright, and relentlessly safe, the plastic pop sound on We Are Pilots references the '80s even more explicitly than the Duran Duran-loving Killers. But despite the occasional chirpy electro (most directly referenced in "Le Disko") and the Human League makeup it's intensely modern, closer to emo than New Wave. The band's debut features a two-vocal combination, with Petree's young-man-in-love tenor rubbing up against Carah Faye's artier edge; she gives a song like "Jackie Will Save Me" a bratty boost. But more often, the band's peppy tragedies ("Chemistry of a Car Crash") and pretty heartaches ("Waiting") sound too tailored for alternative radio. The glossy production sheen, flawless execution, and overall glitz, however, make it easy to forget they're essentially just a tarted-up pop pastiche. In the midst of a quick, passionate fling, you could care less how meaningless and disposable it is... you just know it's hot. Your relationship with Shiny Toy Guns may be a similarly brief--if intense--affair, but you'll always have those first three or four listens. --Matthew Cooke

5 out of 5 stars Great band, awesome CD, future stars.   October 22, 2008
I heard a couple of STG songs on the radio here in Boston and liked them. So I picked up the album, amazing. It has been a LONG time that I found an album that I could listen to from begining to end. I don't love every song but I find each song brings something different. Favorites are: Le Disko, Rainy Monday & Chemistry of a Car Crash. Also pickup their "Stripped" LP to hear some very cool remakes os "Stripped" & "Nothing Compares to You." Looking forward to "Season of Poison" coming out in November.

5 out of 5 stars What an album!   September 7, 2008
One day I was looking for some Synth pop (80's child) and I ran into this album on Amazon and I was hooked. I had never heard of the STG before, but now I will never forget them. Great blend of musical talent that has not been heard in a while. Thank You STG for saving us Synth-lovers. I cant wait for the new Album in Nov.

5 out of 5 stars Great All Around   August 9, 2008
Ok. So there may be better earlier versions of the songs (some that I definitely miss) but this is still an amazing album. All the songs, yes ALL, have clever and sometimes quite deep lyrics, an amazing mix, and great vocals. I do love Chad and Carah's duets.

4 out of 5 stars 3rd Times The Charm   June 26, 2008
This is the 3rd incarnation of this album but after a few releases of demo, We Are Pilots was reworked and remanufactered and finally released on a major label. Luckily for all of us Shiny Toy Guns and their electro rock was worth the wait. The bitch fest of "Don't Cry Out", the collective dance track in "Le Disko", the moody "When They Came For Us" and the catchy "You Are The One" make this a full on great album. I brought it back out this week and it's been on constant rotation.

2 out of 5 stars LeDisko great rest not so much   April 23, 2008

All I can say is that I really hope whichever subset of the band is responsible for Le Disko dumps the rest of the band and soon.
