Editorial Reviews:

Album Description
A remarkable revolution is taking place in Latin music these days, as electronica and remixing meet the more traditional rhythms of Argentinean tango, Afro-Cuban son, Brazilian bossa nova and Colombian cumbia. On Putumayo?s new collection, Latin Lounge artists such as Sidestepper, Si*Se, Charanga Cakewalk and others prove that there can be a magical blend of modern musical trends and traditional Latin styles.

While Latin Lounge features several internationally known artists, it also highlights discoveries such as Bebe, a singer-songwriter whose recent collaboration with electronica DJ Carl Jean has made her a star in her native Spain. Another rising star is the Spanish band Amparanoia, a leading band in the mestizo (mixed) movement, so-called for its boundary-crossing blend of flamenco, Afro-Cuban music, hip-hop, electronica and other influences.

Latin Lounge is the latest in a series of successful Putumayo releases focusing on exciting new directions in down tempo electronica and world music that includes the collections World Lounge, Euro Lounge and Sahara Lounge.

A portion of the proceeds from the sale of this CD will be donated to Oxfam America in support of their development efforts in South America.

5 out of 5 stars DO NOT PASS UP THIS DISC!   October 16, 2008

I bought this disc for my gf on a whim, since she generally loves Latin rhythms, and I sure lucked out: this disc is fabulous! This is some of the best driving music too; very relaxing, yet lively enough to keep you awake.
It's hard to recommend this too much, it's just *that* good!

I have this CD and a few others. Every now and then I like to check for new releases. What I would like to know is WHERE ARE THE TRACK SAMPLES???!! WHAT HAPPENED TO THEM?? I listen to songs before I decide to buy, so if you want to sell a CD, then put them back.

5 out of 5 stars Great Lounge Music   February 25, 2008
I fell in love with this C.D. from the beginning. A few friends have gone out to buy it after listening to it.

Great music for hanging out with friends or listening in the car.

You can never go wrong with the Putumay Presents collection. This is one of my favorites to be honest Latin Lounge.

5 out of 5 stars Putumayo's best to date   August 10, 2007
Of all my Putumayo cd's, this is definitely my favourite. I can listen to this one over and over and over... Perfect for a chilled party, a long drive on a Sunday afternoon, a candlelight dinner, or any other worthy occasion. I just love Sueno Mama by Roberto Poveda, and Mariposa by Si Se. After listening to the artists on the album I have bought many of their original recordings. It opened a whole new world of Latin Music to me. You definitely won't regret buying this album.
